Requirements

For entry level firefighter positions, all training is provided on the job or through an academy.
For advanced firefighter positions, credit is given based on certification and years of experience.
Specific requirements are under the OPM Fire Protection and Prevention Series (0081) classification.

Compensation

NRMA-FES firefighters are paid from GS-03 to GS-07 with paramedics and captains GS-08 to GS-09. 
The base GS pay scale DOES NOT reflect a firefighter's true pay due to built in overtime and scheduling.

Members are also eligible for the 401k style Thrift Savings Plan with up to 4% federal fund matching.
