Mark A. Shultz, 56, passed away December 11, 2013 at his home. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Tammi; son, David; father, Charles R. Shultz, Sr; brother, Charles R. Shultz, Jr. and sister, Cheryl Blaine of St. Louis, MO. He was predeceased by his mother, Jacqueline Shultz.
He was a retired lieutenant firefighter with Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire and Rescue.

Christopher D. Rivera, 43, of South Battlefield Boulevard, Chesapeake, VA, died Sunday, May 31, 2015. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was the son of Linda Van Duyn Rivera of Coinjock, NC and the late Augustus Cesar Cajipe Rivera. He was a lieutenant firefighter with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Fire Department and a member of Knotts Island Baptist Church.

Captain John David Friis lost his battle with cancer on October 7th, 2015. John was born in Bethesda, MD and was a retired Navy Aviation Electrician (AE1) and was a retired Captain with the Navy Regional Mid Atlantic Fire Department. He was a former resident of Virginia Beach, where he had been a Virginia Beach volunteer firefighter and was an honorary Captain with Franklin Fire and Rescue.

What a great guy. Known by most as Jerry, he started his career in the fire department in 1996. He was proud to be a fireman. He spent time at Station 4 and Station 1 on B-shift. In 2002 Jerry was promoted to Lieutenant on Engine Company 5, and was transferred back to Station 4 on A-Shift. Jerry was highly qualified in all aspects of the job. He was dependable, independent and took care of business. He was always willing to share his knowledge with others, and was there to lend a hand. Wendi will be remembered in so many ways. She was a woman who found a smile every day, had a story for every occasion, a hand shake for anyone she saw, and a passion for what she believed in.
