MDA is gearing up for our annual Summer Camp, once again taking place at the Airfield 4-H Center in Wakefield, VA. This year’s camp will be June 11-17, 2016. We are thrilled to share with you that we are hosting a bigger & better MDA camp this year, which will include children from all over Virginia, including southwest VA. With the merge and promoting camp throughout the year, we have a record number of camper applicants this year. We are currently looking at nearly 90 campers who would like to attend camp this year! (Compared to 68 between the two camps last year!)
This means we have a very real, urgent need for adult volunteers to serve as counselors for the week. We especially are in need of 50 male volunteers, age 16 or older. (2/3 of our campers are boys, who need to be paired with male volunteers.) MDA strives to maintain a 1:1 ratio for campers to counselors, in order for each camper to have an unforgettable and engaging week for all.
As a loyal friend of MDA, we are asking you to please help us spread the word, to your firefighter brothers, your sons/nephews/brothers, your kids’ friends, your friends who have age-appropriate children…anyone who could help us fill this need! Volunteers receive 144 hours of community service in exchange for their week of volunteerism, not to mention a ton of laughs and a life-changing experience!
Any interested individuals should send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the online application link. Applications are due by April 1st. Previous medical experience is not a requirement.
We really appreciate your help! When MDA is in need, we know we can always count on our firefighter friends to answer our call for help! Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
Thanks so much!
